Does any computer whizzkid out there know the answer to this problem:

I've got a cd with 11 tracks that I want to convert to a SINGLE MP3 file. Is this possible? Can't seem to do it without making an MP3 file for each track...

And I don't want to record the cd onto the PC from an external player, as the sound quality will get worse.

Help!

you could use sound forge to record the CD into your computer and then convert the file into an MP3

also the GU web-site has a technical forum where people ask these sorts of questions

http://pub129.ezboard.com/fglobalundergroundfrm15

If you do a search on the forum you may find some one who as asked this question before and will have a better answer to.

Hope thats help you out dude

get yourself a bit of software called cdex (its free) from download.com

then just pop your cd in and select the track you want to make an mp3

you will need to tinker with the settings so that it saves it to where you want it, and the buttons called convert to compressed audio rather than mp3, but your figure that out i'm sure.

Wicked, Cdex worked a treat. Thanks both of you! :angel2:

I use easy cd-da extractor

I haven't had a problem encoding mp3's with this before, and you can merge tracks into one selection.

It's shareware but I'm sure you can find a keygen for it, not that I condone such things, you understand. ;)

unfortunately the lastest versions of CDDA tend to phone home when they're accessing the CDDB for listings and deactivate themselves. well, if they're dodgy they do.. of course i assume all yours are totally legit ;)

you can set your firewall up to block access or just not use the freedb, but it's a bit annoying.

when it goes online to get the tracklisitings from the internet database it also connects to its manufacturer and checks your serial number against a blacklist. if yours has been compromised it deactivates the program.

means you either buy it or don't download track listings. which is annoying cos you have to type them in

yes but Easy CD-DA Extractor is not. it was suggested that you could get hold of a crack/serial to use it without buying it. I'm trying to say that the new versions get round this cos when you go online to retrieve the free listing information it also phones home.

just trying to warn some people that it causes problems
