Haha just noticed the Donnie Darko smilie. Never noticed that before.

I pondered whether it would do as a bunny girl smilie. Alas not. Didn't quite have the same effect, try as I might. :silly:

Can't listen to squarepusher anymore, makes me go all quesy and want to throw up. A bit like when you give yourself alcohol posioning on vodka and vimto so can't touch vimto again.

I had to study Squarepusher at Uni in my Music in Contemporary Culture Course which had a similar effect of putting me off.

Haha, I remember this. I have never quite seen someone nearly pass out to listening to music alone.

how do i get a picture to pop up? i've found one i like, its the right size.

Boomkat seem to like the new Squarepusher:

"Parts of this album appear to be made out of live recordings though Warp claim not!!! the sequencing is a bit bizarre to say the least but if the Squarepusher you love is 'Hard Normal Daddy Feed Me Weird Things My Sound Iambic 5 Poetry' then you'll adore this album. A killer return to form for the master".

Yeah, there is a smidgen of crowd noise within some tracks... hmmm.

Best track so far... Iambic 9 Poetry.

Would like to give it a listen!

I'd like to pose a teaser for anyone interested, it's a tough one:

Which classic 1970's New York film has the 'Max Sedgley - Happy' break been taken from?

Good, but they're not the right answers. I'm guessing that Max Sedgley has'nt cleared the sample.

Peak District Drifter

is 'cop related' a film?
it is a new york cop's sort of film.

The kind of film a New York cop might enjoy, for example on his evening off, or a film involving New York cops?

Surely that's a 'remix'?

Peak District Drifter

i've heard another one which is reasonable:

Happy in Rio (Spiritual South mix)

They did that 'Green Gold' track last year

Does pitching up count as remixing nowadays.

Wasn't that billed to be The Tune of the Weekender? - I didn't think it was that great - maybe i'll have another listen.

that's where i'm from - i live about half a mile from the pontins they have the weekender in. :hour:

never been though, i asked if i could have a cheaper ticket without a 'chalet' cos it seems daft hiring a room so close to my house, but they never got back to me.. :mad1:

I bought this album last week, listened to it most of the way through on Saturday (was interrupted at the end) and have to say I was completely blown away.

Definitely album of the year, and I can't see it being beaten.

I think schoolchildren should be made to listen to it on the National Curriculum.

its nice to see squarepusher back on form, i got a bit fed up with buying his albums and finding that there was one wicked track and the rest was him seeing what random and nasty noises he could make.

I think its just had a recent reissue, i picked up a copy pretty cheap.

So I bought this today in Fopp.

Guess what- I don't really like it. Wanted to check out what the fuss was concerning Squarepusher. I've read in this thread that 'ultravisitor' is one of his more accessible albums. It really doesn't make me want to check out any of his other stuff if this is the case. I'm all for experimental, boundary pushing music, but large parts of this album are to my ears just wanton, unnecessary noise (yes Geoff/Marcus I said 'noise'!). The sort of stuff you're not allowed to admit you don't like cos some smug muso boff will say "you just don't get it".
Yeah Iambic 9 Poetry is nice, but is it really anything Four Tet isn't doing (and doing better?).

Dissapointed.

Hi all
Myself and two other djs run a night called' Shula-Bula'. On New years eve we had a party in a disused brewary (spirit of acid house ).
We recorded the night and are currently in the process of getting the music off of minidisc and onto c.d. Anyone interested should PM I would like to swap for U-G MIXES ideally, but am happy to send to anyone.
LONG LIVE THE PITCH MONKEYS!!!! :twitch2:
